This is an idea I got from a poem (?) called First Paragraph of Marcel Proust's "Swann's Way" (Translated from the French by C. K. Scott Moncrieff), Alphabetized published in The Iowa Review.
I thought it was an interesting idea, so I grabbed one of my favorite books and set to work. It took about an hour or so.

Shoot me, but I consider this a poem.
I'm still trying to figure out what exactly it is in pure definition, but I like the structure and how you can pull a massive amount of information simply by the words Bradbury wrote. You can catalog his writing style, deconstruct his diction, and observe some of his more poetic constructions. For example, I discovered that he had a ton of consonance in his original piece that I had never seen before. It's also interesting because you can get the vaguest sense of what these first few paragraphs are about with all of the action "burn" words, how all of the "he"s dictate how the piece is so personal, and the how the word "books" are set directly in the middle of a heap of fiery language. It's great.

Anyways, I hope you enjoy this.

Not too much, I just picked up my copy, typed out the first four paragraphs (that first section describing Montag's love for book burning) and just did a ton of copy-pasta until this was born. XD It was really a bunch of fun. :P

I like it. I think you can get a good grasp of a person's thought pattern when people choose words at the top of their heads. I suppose it's like a psychological test in that respect. It invokes curiosity, and it's quite fun to keep up with when reading out loud!

Well, it's not quite an test, because that assumes results and a hypothesis, while I made this with very little direction in mind. I'm also not sure he was choosing words off of the top of his head: Bradbury is a brilliant writer. :) I felt like this was all very deliberate, especially the way he sets up these four paragraphs in his book to reflect how the character is a man who enjoys the chaos of his work. It conveys his power in ways so direct it's shocking, but when it's broken down like this, the language is raw and bare and it's really neat to just pick it apart... :)

Thanks! I'm going to read into it a little more because it's like this weird combination of author-author interaction. It's fun!
